Pinterest announced yesterday the Instapaper app’s premium features will be available to all users for free. Pinterest acquired read-it-later app Instapaper earlier this year. Instapaper is a bookmarking app that allows you to save articles from the internet to read them later. Features like text-to-speech and the ability to search within saved text are now free. Pinterest plans to continue to run the apps as a separate product and it will continue to receive updates and new features. (Search)

YouTube has resolved a long-running dispute that prevented many of its clips from being accessible in Germany. The company has been at odds with Gema – a German rights body representing musicians, composers and publishers – since 2009. Google’s Content ID system means that clips flagged as containing Gema-protected tracks can now have adverts automatically added to them to recompense the songs’ creators. The red banners that prevented thousands of clips from playing in Germany have now been removed. (Search)

A study testing a male birth control shot ended early after men taking it reported negative side effects including mood swings, an altered libido and acne. The male birth control shot in nearly 96% effective at preventing pregnancy and researchers found only four pregnancies resulted among 266 men who used the contraceptive. Scottish brewery, Innis & Gunn, says it has created a new pale ale using moisture harvested from clouds. A bespoke device fitted with a turbine and condenser was attached to a power kite to capture the water which was then put through Innis & Gunn’s brewing process. Innis & Gunn are producing 500 pints of the limited edition Sky P.A. as part of crowdfunding efforts to secure future experiments in beer making and the expansion of the company’s bar and restaurants. The Colonial Pipeline is a system of pipes that carries millions of barrels of gas, diesel and jet fuel a day from Texas to New Jersey. A federal court has ruled that the Republican National Committee must explain by 5 pm today any agreements it has made with Donald Trump’s campaign in an attempt to ensure “ballot security.” The Democratic National Committee filed a motion to hold the RNC in contempt for alleged violation of a 1982 consent decree. Last week, Democrats accused Republicans of violating the decree “by supporting and enabling the efforts of the Republican candidate for President, Donald J. Volvo Cars and its Chinese owner are revving up their profile as they focus on selling premium cars in world markets. Outlining its latest strategy on Wednesday, Volvo unveiled upgraded versions of its upscale S90 sedan range, which will be manufactured entirely in China for export, in a sign of confidence in its Chinese production base. A new study led by University of California-San Diego researchers found that Facebook users live longer. The study looked at 12 million Facebook users, and suggested that in cases when Facebook is used to maintain and improve real-life social connections, it could increase longevity. It found that in a given year, the average Facebook user is approximately 12% less likely to die than someone who does not use the networking site, while users with average or large social networks – that is, in the top 50 to 30 percent – lived longer than those in the lowest 10%.
